Friends & Supporters of the WMTGC:

2013 has been a busy year for the West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition. In January, we embarked on a Capital Campaign, focusing on establishing a trail maintenance fund, developing key connectors to link the primary trails of our region, and look at ways to improve and enhance signage and trail amenities. The Campaign, titled, “Connecting Communities, Completing the Vision,” reflects these goals. And, with a very generous $2 million commitment from the Meijer Foundation, we set a realistic Campaign goal of $3.5 million.

The Meijer Foundation’s pledge strengthened our efforts to secure the remaining funding needed. We have been pleased that sustaining partners remain consistent, and new faces have emerged giving us great hope and support! To date, we have raised more than $2.5 million dollars, and we still have six months remaining until our Campaign finishes in June 2014. Although we have a lot of work ahead of us, we want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and publicly thank those businesses and organizations that have made pledge commitments to our work and the trails of our region. They are:

  • The Meijer Foundation
  • Wege Foundation
  • ALTL Trucking Company
  • Grand Rapids Community Foundation
  • Muskegon Area Community Foundation
  • Grand Haven Area Community Foundation
    • Marion A. and Ruth K. Sherwood Family Fund
    • Greatest Needs Fund and Fluor Schwartz Memorial Fund
  • Holland-Zeeland Community Foundation
  • Forest Hills Foods
  • Sebastian Foundation
  • Steelcase Foundation
  • DTE Energy Foundation
  • Grandville Commodities
  • Haworth Company
  • Loutit Foundation
  • MSJ Foundation
  • Striders “Sunset Race Series”
  • JSJ Foundation

Each and every event group, and the many individual donors who have made contributions.

We wish to express our gratitude and great appreciation to all those helping to complete our vision of a trail maintenance fund, signage & trail amenities, and creating “key connectors” to help link the primary trail corridors in West Michigan. West Michigan Trails & Greenways Coalition (WMTGC) continues its work as a trail-building resource, consulting entity, fiduciary agent, liaison and information source for grassroots groups and communities throughout West Michigan. We rely on our generous trail supporters and friends to help us continue this mission through donations and support commitments! Trails matter…They are important. They help connect families, friends, neighborhoods & communities. They provide pathways for physical exercise and mental rejuvenation, and serve as transportation roadways for commuting to school and work. By making a contribution to WMTGC, you’re helping to make a positive impact in your neighborhood, community, and in West Michigan. You are helping to preserve green spaces, improve air quality, and protect the environment of West Michigan for generations to come. We are a small, non-subsidized not-for-profit organization. Every donation is important to us and makes an impact on the work we do. It is only through supporters like you that we are able to help build and improve our regional non-motorized trail network. We hope you will join us in this worthy cause. We need your help, and we hope you will consider sending a gift to our Capital Campaign today! Your contribution is important to us. We continue to be good financial stewards of the financial resources we receive, with 90% of our funds targeted to assist trail projects in West Michigan. We hope you will say “Yes,” and commit to West Michigan’s healthy future. Thank you for your participation and consideration of this important effort!
